Arts & Crafts
Calling all Artists and Crafters!
Hundreds of arts and crafts booths and other exhibitors line the streets of downtown. Spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis so get your application in early! The rates per space are as follows:
- $175 Standard registration
This fee entitles you to a 15 ft wide x 10 ft deep space on the street and is non-refundable. All proceeds from the show will be distributed to promote worthwhile community and international projects.
- All craft items must be handmade or hand-altered by the vendor and pre-approved prior to the show. If you are selling or displaying any items that are not handmade or hand-altered you may be asked to leave the show and no refund will be given. It is the sole discretion of the Olde Salem Days chair to determine whether you meet the criteria for display or sale.
- A description of items you wish to sell must be provided in your application and must include photos. Without a description of goods, no space will be reserved, and your check will be returned. If you have a website with pictures of your products, you may submit the website in lieu of photos or you may mail/email digital copies. (You must send a prepaid envelope if you wish your photos to be returned.)
- Your submission of the application and photos constitutes consent to use those photos and any photos of you and your artwork at the event in the promotion of OSD.
- Bake sale items must be baked goods only. Any other food must be placed in the Food Court or approved as an arts and crafts booth. If you are interested in the Food Court, you may request a registration form at oldesalemdays.com or info@oldesalemdays.com. No beverages are allowed to be sold.
- If you require more than one space, please indicate on the registration form and send payment for all spaces.
- A confirmation letter and further information will be mailed to all registrants in August. Until then confirmation will be your cancelled check.

- No electrical outlets, tables or tents will be provided, and no generators will be permitted.
- There will be a $45 service charge for returned checks.

Food
Food vendor information
We would like to extend to you the opportunity to participate in this year’s Food Court. Reservations for the limited number of booths in the Food Court will be on a first-come first-served basis. The fees for the booths are noted below. The available booths measure 15 feet deep by 15 feet wide. Tents for food vendors are required per health department regulations. You must supply your own tent. If you require more space, you may rent 2 booths. Due to the necessity of making advance arrangements, we are setting a July 1st deadline for applications.
Each application must include a copy of your insurance form verifying current liability coverage. The main food court will be in the Salem Farmers Market parking lot located just off Main Street.
- $400 with electricity, 15’ x 15’ space
- If there is an overlap in menu items, you will be notified of changes required. The Rotary Club of Salem has the exclusive rights to control the sales of hotdogs, soft drinks, bottled water and any beverage of any kind. No vendor may sell hot dogs or any soft drinks, name brand drinks, bottled water or beverages of any kind without written consent of the OSD Chairperson. No exceptions!
- You must be set up for inspection by 8 a.m.! If the health inspector leaves and you have not been inspected, you will not be permitted to sell food. The Health Department requires each vendor to submit an application for a temporary food permit. They will not issue a permit, but they must receive an application. The Health Department WILL be inspecting each vendor’s booth. You must meet the Guidelines for Temporary Food Establishments. They will shut down any vendor that fails to meet minimum requirements for proper food handling and preparations. It is your responsibility to comply with all Health Department requirements.
- We will not be held responsible if the Health Department requires you to close.
- The Tax Authority of the Commonwealth of Virginia requires ALL profit and non-profit organizations to be registered with the State of Virginia and acquire a tax ID number. Each vendor is responsible for reporting their profits from this event, and it is suggested that you set your food prices accordingly to accommodate sales tax.
- Electrical availability beyond basic 110-volt connections (220 volt) is limited and must have a special request approved by The Rotary Club of Salem. All extension cords and special adapters are the responsibility of the vendor (including 110-volt connections). The Rotary Club of Salem will not supply extension cords.
- Vendors must use only heavy-duty outdoor cords and tape all cords safely and securely.
